I love that I live close enough to reservoirs in Utah that I can throw our inflatable paddle board in the car and get on the water within an hour. Even better, I get awesome mountain scenery to go with my adventures. It helps that I have an awesome adult daughter that lets me tag along and helps me get set up for fun. Not a whole lot can go wrong when getting out on a stand up paddle board. Okay, so we forgot the paddle and had to make do with a stick until some nice lady let us borrow her kayak paddle. Not quite the same but it works for getting around the relatively small Tibble Fork Reservoir in American Fork Canyon. What makes Tibble Fork great is that it is small enough that motorboats aren’t allowed so it’s the perfect spot for paddle boarding and kayaking.
Recently, Kalina and I had the opportunity to attend the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City where we had a chance to interact with some awesome brands. We were already familiar with Hobie® as they make great stand up paddle boards which we’ve lusted after for quite some time. However, it was the first time we got to learn about Hobie®Polarized Sunglasses. One of the things that I was impressed with right away is that Hobie makes women’s specific sunglasses in addition to their other sunglasses. So many companies only make unisex glasses which don’t always fit my head. I also learned about why the polarized lenses work well with water sports.
It’s always better to actually to try something than just gathering information. That is why I am happy that I got to take the Hobie® Sunglasses on the lake. I tried the Woody Heritage Model and Kalina tried the regular Woody Model. We were both impressed at how well the polarized lenses work at reducing sun glare on the water. Plus the lenses make everything crisp and clear. I really like the way they fit. They are comfortable and lightweight. Kalina has a smaller head so she has a bit of a problem with her model staying put and not falling down onto her nose. Between the two of us, that is the only issue we had.
I also love the Hobie Sunglasses for driving during prime sunlight hours. They are so good at reducing glare, I don’t have to worry about being blinded by the sun.
Kalina and I can’t wait for the ultimate chance to rent stand up paddle boards in a few months in Kauai and I can’t think of a better time to make sure I pack the right sunglasses.
