Corona Arch – Moab, Utah
Though Moab is close to Arches and Canyonlands National Park, you don’t have to go inside the national parks to partake of Utah’s beautiful arches. Corona Arch is near Moab and can be enjoyed at no charge.
Continue following the trail along the roadbed to a gap in the rim.
From the gap, it is important to look for the cairns which will mark the rest of the trail. Follow the cairns up the wash about 100 yards and then veer left. Continue following the cairns over a sandy pass, toward the base of a large cliff.
Follow the base of the cliff to the first safety cable and around to the second cable. Steps have been cut into the rock for easy climb and descent.
2nd cable with steps
From the top of the second cable, climb the ladder over the ledge and follow the cairns along the slick rock. You will see Corona Arch as well as Bow Tie Arch to the left as you approach them.
Hiking shoes are recommended but a good pair of athletic shoes will suffice.
Corona Arch is also a popular destination for thrill seekers. It is billed as the world’s largest rope swing. The BLM has tried to ban this and I do not recommend trying it as there have been deaths from miscalculating ropes. Not only that, but the ropes leave damage to the delicate rocks. When we hiked, there was a group of young adults jumping off the arch thus the climbing rope in the photo. Please do not try this without somebody who knows what they are doing.

Cairn along Corona Arch Trail in Moab, Utah
Experienced hikers know that following man made cairns is one of the best ways to avoid getting lost in the wilderness. New hikers may not have even heard the word.
Of all of the places I’ve hiked, the trails in Moab, Utah have the most cairns I’ve seen. Put on your hiking shoes and head to the nearest hiking to find a cairn.

I have been a fan of Tazo herbal teas for some time. I jumped at the chance to try Tazo Chai Latte. I chose the decaf version since I try to stay away from caffeine.
Getting ready to curl up with a good book with my Tazo
I mixed my concentrated chai latte with vanilla soy milk at 1:1. It made for a great combination. The chai spices, like cinnamaon and cloves, gave the decaf tea a smooth taste while the vanilla soy milk added a sweet and nutty creaminess. It’s perfect for those cold days when all I want to do is curl up with a good book.
The Tazo decaf chai latte is the perfect bedtime treat. I don’t have to worry about caffeine keeping me up at night. I have a new favorite drink to get me through the cold winter.
